Jael Gadsden (Deloris Van Cartier) is excited and grateful to be at the Legacy Theater to perform the role of Deloris! Jael is an accomplished actor, performer, and singer/ songwriter from Charleston, SC, and a graduate of Furman University. Other favorite musical roles include Celie in The Color Purple, Rachel in The Bodyguard, Sara in Ragtime, Joanne in Rent, and Hope in Urinetown. She has worked as a performer in Japan at Universal Studios, Singapore, and throughout the United States. Similarly, she won a national songwriting contest for Lincoln cars, affording her the opportunity to open for national recording artist, “Common,” at the House of Blues in Chicago. She also sang “God Bless America” for the L.A. Dodgers. Television performances include Nodojiman the World (Finalist 2014) in Tokyo, singing songs in Japanese; Showtime at the Apollo with the group Ebone’. As an actress, she made an appearance in a K- Swiss television commercial, and in movie called American Dreamz. Moreover, as an accomplished songwriter and composer, she has released three albums, entitled “Red Bridge Sunrise,” “The Journey,” and “Coming Full Circle.” Her albums can be found on Apple Music, Amazon, and Spotify. Jael is grateful for her family for all their support and to the Legacy theater for this opportunity! She is enthusiastic for opportunities to share her gifts, meet new people, and inspire others!
